Brantley councilman arrested on assault charge | Crime
BRANTLEY, AL (WSFA) - A public official from Crenshaw County was taken into custody late Wednesday evening and charged with domestic assault.
Brantley's District One town councilman, Lorey Bogen, was arrested around 11:45pm.
Brantley's police chief, Titus Averett, says someone called 911 to report a disturbance on Pecan Circle, a residential area. When officers arrived, the police chief says Bogen was in a physical altercation with his wife.
The officer arrested Bogen and charged him with domestic assault in the third degree. The councilman was held at the Crenshaw County Jail until being released on bond Thursday morning.
Chief Averett said it wasn't immediately clear why the couple was arguing, but added that officers were interviewing neighbors who witnessed the event.
Another question is why Bogen and his wife were in that neighborhood, which is not where their home is located. It is possible that the couple was visiting someone for the holiday.
Bogen was unavailable for comment. He is currently serving his second term on the Brantley Town Council.
